I kept waiting for the story to get started until I resigned that it was a long tale about a journey of families and how they intertwined. I like the idea that it was the retold story of Genesis but I also found that to be a distraction. The last line of the book truly made this story a worthwhile read. It took me about three attempts to get into this book but once I committed, I was pleasantly engaged.
