La vez anterior les hablé de un libro muy bueno que me puso de malas y me deprimió, Aldous Huxley con su “Un mundo feliz” en donde no había arte, Dios, familia ni nada que pudiera llenarte de la suficiente pasión para que pelearas con ella.
Ahora vengo con una historia similar, pero muy diferente.

La vez anterior les hablé de un libro muy bueno que me puso de malas y me deprimió, Aldous Huxley con su “Un mundo feliz” en donde no había arte, Dios, familia ni nada que pudiera llenarte de la suficiente pasión para que pelearas con ella.
Ahora vengo con una historia similar, pero muy diferente.
En Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury nos cuenta de un mundo distinto, en el que tampoco existen las verdaderas familias, donde la televisión es todo lo que no rodea (literalmente) y la gente que ves ahí, son tus “familiares”, un mundo en el que la gente cree que es feliz porque puede sentarse dentro de una habitación en la que sus cuatro paredes son pantallas que hablan sin cesar día y noche, un mundo en el que los bomberos de dedican a provocar incendios para terminar con la última esperanza que el mundo tiene para volver a ser lo de antes: los libros.
Imaginen un lugar así, donde el tener un único libro y que alguien se dé cuenta, es motivo suficiente para que los bomberos entren y destruyan tu casa, contigo dentro si es necesario.
Como la persona rara que soy, suelo meterme demasiado en los personajes de los libros que leo, y verme en ese mundo extraño sin libros, lleno de gente más loca que yo y con ideas raras, me deprime.
No voy a decir que no es un muy buen libro, ha sido una de las mejores recomendaciones que me ha hecho Makoto Black y me da gusto haberlo leído, pero tengo que aceptar que es una situación que no me gustaría vivir, un mundo en el que preferiría no vivir.
Eso de los mundos “felices”, definitivamente NO es lo mío.

No puede faltar en ninguna estantería

Lo que más me ha gustado de este libro, es que aunque se base en el futuro, no se centra en la tecnología, si no en la situación en la que se encuentran. Personas frías, que no ven más allá de sus narices, cómo no tienen piedad alguna a la hora de quemar libros (y gente si se resisten)....

Fahrenheit 451 es un libro más que recomendable. Nos lleva a un mundo en el futuro pero con alusiones mínimas a la tecnología. Se centra en los problemas que conlleva la supresión de los libros. Fahrenheit 451 es un libro más que recomendable. Nos lleva a un mundo en el futuro pero con alusiones mínimas a la tecnología. Se centra en los problemas que conlleva la supresión de los libros. Fahrenheit 451 es la temperatura a la que arde el papel, en un sitio donde los bomberos han cambiado de profesión. Digo que es preocupante porque hace pensar en cómo podríamos llegar a ser en un lugar tan acomodado (también moralmente) y dependiendo de los avances.

There's a quote in the book that says: "we have everything we need to be happy but we are not happy. Something is missing" And that's the whole point of the novel, exploring what's missing and why it matters.
For me this is not a book, this is THE BOOK.
As dystopias go, it's not perhaps the most twisted or sickening of them all, but it's definitely one of the scariest. A world with no emotions, no interactions and no books. Books make people think, thinking will make you sad. Being sad is bad, so books are bad. I don't think I've ever read a more perverse reasoning.
Perhaps what's so thrilling and scaring about that not-so-distant-yet-undefined future is that we can see our society going towards it head first.
Bradbury's prose, as always, is full of poetry and beauty and even in the worst moments he is willing to give us a hint that not everything is lost, not forever. Perhaps that's why I like this book over the rest of dystopias out there. Because at the end, Mr. Bradbury gives us hope. A better future will come, some day. All the anguish, all the terror and the pain won't be worthless after all.
For me it's the better book I've ever read.It's a presuntuous assumption, I know, but I can't help to love everypage of it every time I read it.
