    Five stars are not enough!!

    If only I could be one of Maugham's character.. I dislike short tales. Never liked them. I do prefer the big, fat, long novels, but short: no thanks, not my cup of tea.     If only I could be one of Maugham's character.. I dislike short tales. Never liked them. I do prefer the big, fat, long novels, but short: no thanks, not my cup of tea. But I simply LOVE Somerset Maugham's work!! Whater he writes: probably it's because I love Asia and Maugham with a couple of sentences send me down there, two centuries ago. I can feel the jungle, the solitude, the boredom, the moskitos, the strong desire to be connected again with people and life, the heat, the sweat. And most of all I admire Maugham's decision to tell story of expatriates in Asia ALWAYS from the women's point of view: the one who actually and apparently had but nothing, absolutely nothing to do all day long. But..

  • A rather interesting collection of short-stories set in the Far-East that I picked up at Changi Airport (Singapore). Just the thing for reading on a flight home from a 'visit to the tropics' ;)
    A 'smashing' read chaps! With a few more 'Gin and Bitters (Pink Gin)' than 'lashings of lemonade' :) ... (continue)
