The book starts off really well - I was rooting for Kira, such a poor little girl with immense inner strength. But after she escapes from her predicament, the plot just goes flat. There's not enough suspense or excitement to keep me turning the pages. I can just hope the next book in the series will keep building on this....Continua
This was a very good story about a world in which the weak are cast aside. I liked how Kira learned about her gift and the truth of the Council of Guardians. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Messenger.
I really liked this book. It got me guessing what would happen. Although it seems to be written for a younger audience it also hinted at a darker reality of conspiracy--evil actions of those in high places to keep the lower classes in their caste. It emphasizes the importance of caring for others and being an individual in the face of difficulty--looking for your individual talents and strengthening them to deal with the unpleasant opposition that inevitably comes everyone's way....Continua
