    Panic!

No doubt one of the scariest books ever read. For once the story itself leaves dismayed. And once again (it is still Stephen King) the narration keeps us trapped, deadlock in a present time which is not moving on, through past times that can't help. Fear fear fear. Believe me: don't read it alone in ... (continue)

I am not a great fan of Stephen King, but this novel was gripping.
Original the idea of an erotic game ending in such a tragic way just in the first pages, almost unbereable the tension of the woman talking in her head (who won't go insane in such a condition?), great climax (a dog becomes a mortal ... (continue)

I don't know if I'll ever read King again...

Ahh, the frailty of men and their groins...

I love novels that provoke "what would I do" scenarios. I was bored one day and decided to give this book a whirl and was surprised at how I could not put it down. The necrophiliac murderer was an interesting and surprising bonus to throw in the mix of all the problems facing the handcuffed widow who was attempting escape from her headboard captivity.

Disturbing in true Stephen King fashion. Typical lame Stephen King ending.

  • This book continues ad infinitum, using ten times the number of words required for the storyline.

From looking at the other reviews of this book it seems that most people either love it or hate it. From looking at the other reviews of this book it seems that most people either love it or hate it. Almost all of this story deals with the human mind's response to a "fox in a jaw-trap" situation (think 127 hours) so it's a bit different from King's usual fare. As the story progresses our narrator gets more and more unreliable which sets the stage to make the final denouement even more chilling.

Warning: readers with weak stomachs should probably give this one a miss as the gore factor gets pretty heavy in places.

  • Not bad, per se. But not my favourite Stephen King. I just couldn't get on with it and gave up, in the end.
