Seriously, if you can get a hold of a Magarshack translation of Dosty's longer works, it's well worth your effort. Magarshack knows how to convey Dostoevksy's tone and word choice. Excellent selection of Dostoevsky's short works, masterfully translated by David Magarshack. Seriously, if you can get a hold of a Magarshack translation of Dosty's longer works, it's well worth your effort. Magarshack knows how to convey Dostoevksy's tone and word choice. I completely prefer his translations to the new "sexier" Pevear/Volkonsky translations.
