Because who doesn't want to be happy?
I rue that my daughter is growing up so quickly. Truly, the days are long, but the years are short. And if you nodded in agreement - even just once - while watching the video, then you must agree that there is a nugget of truth, so simple, so elemental, that actually feels like a kick in the butt. I got this book in hopes that I could read along with Gretchen Rubin and be inspired to figure out how to make my life happier. It was successful the first 7 chapters. By the time I got towards the end of the book, it was time for me to return it to the library and I still had 1/3 of the book to finish. I started skimming through the chapters and reading it as quickly as possible, not allowing myself the time to soak in all of her "lessons of adulthood." I did borrow the book again from a friend and will try to go back and review again. I loved her ideas and philosophies that you can make your life happier even if you are already happy. You just have to make a conscious effort to do so. I look forward to going back and looking at the book and finding a way to create my own "10 commandments" and to figure out how to "be Ashley." I wouldn't say the book is 100% practical to try to do on your own (especially if you're not a writer and you're full time employed) - but the concept that she has is what I find most appealing and practical to my life. Everyone's going to view this book in a different way and how it personally effects you, but I would highly recommend it. The Happiness Project is a pleasurable read along with good tips and insights on ways that you yourself can be happier.
