This is an interesting picture book. The story is simple: Harold creates an exciting journey with his purple crayon. He embarks on his journey, faces different challenges and eventually has a safe trip home. This book means to foster creativity among young kids. I think it also serves to remind adults that every journey in our life can be re-routed, as long as we dare to try.
A caution: kids will definitely fall themselves over to drawing after reading this book. Make sure you let them know the appropriate surface to draw on!

This is the fist Harold book I read and I love the drawing ideas that Harold has.
