A New York real estate tycoon plunges to his death on a Manhattan sidewalk. A trophy wife with a past survives a narrow escape from a brazen attack. Mobsters and moguls with no shortage of reasons to kill trot out their alibis. And then, in the suffocating grip of a record heat wave, comes another shocking murder and a sharp turn in a tense journey into the dirty little secrets of the wealthy. Secrets that prove to be fatal. Secrets that lay hidden in the dark until one NYPD detective shines a light.

Mystery sensation Richard Castle, blockbuster author of the wildly best-selling Derrick Storm novels, introduces his newest character, NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat. Tough, sexy, professional, Nikki Heat carries a passion for justice as she leads one of New York City's top homicide squads. She's hit with an unexpected challenge when the commissioner assigns superstar magazine journalist Jameson Rook to ride along with her to research an article on New York's Finest. PulitzerPrize-winning Rook is as much a handful as he is handsome. His wise-cracking and meddling aren't her only problems. As she works to unravel the secrets of the murdered real estate tycoon, she must also confront the spark between them. The one called heat.

  • Heat Wave by Richard Castle

What a clever concept!!! I have heard of a spin-off TV series but not a spin-off novel. Somebody at ABC is having a really good time writing Heat Wave under the pseudonym of Richard Castle, the lead character in the ABC television series Castle. Ther ... (read full critics)

Though it has its ups and downs and it's not the best thriller I've read, it's quite good. The whole process of discovering who the murderer is, the clues they get, the suspects... I found it too long. Some information is ommitted to the reader and to the journalist character and at the end once they catch the murderer everything comes out of the blue as if it was the most obvious thing. Perhaps I expected too much from it as in the TV series they sell it as if he was an excellent writer and once you read the book you feel a little bit disappointed.

  • Above all, a great idea

A novel written by a TV series character, is above all an amazing idea. Naked Heat is a funny, interesting and trashy story very story similar to the on we can see on the TV. A novel written by a TV series character, is above all an amazing idea. Naked Heat is a funny, interesting and trashy story very story similar to the on we can see on the TV. And in that is delightful. Just the thing to send your brain on the greener pastures. But if the reader expects high quality crime, he will be disappointed. Every fan of the "Castle" show will find it amusing, because the fans are the primary target for this project. But I doubt that people who have never seen Richard Castle would find it as interesting. I for once am showing thumbs up! Good job Richard! ;)

  • Just got this book because I love the TV show Castle; if not a fan of that, this might be a little too light weight. But it was a great travel book!
