All Carnegie teached here are skills, how to control your own emotion, how to deal with difficult siutaions, how to say no, etc.

It seems like if you remember all these skills and do accordingly, you will be a charming person who have a lot of friends and being very influential.

This is BULLSHIT. If you are simply ACTING as somebody, I can assure you won't be happy. You could hate yourself one day for being a clown who always wear a mask! You will feel like a FAKE (because you are!).

Please, if you want to improve your interpersonal skills, work on you HEART. Understand yourselves, love yourselves unconditionally. Then you will be a genuinelly HAPPY people and everybody just want to be with you.

The most evident thing in this book is the stereotyping of solutions to problems - and that might not be a stereotype at all as it may actually work when applied. I have yet to test out the skills and principles that I learnt from the book but I have to say that Carnegie got human behaviours and perception down to a T.

That is, possibly a decade ago or so. It seems that the methods and teachings in this book is slightly outdated. Some of the techniques seem too transparent to actually work - surely the modern human mind has been littered with too much television, movies and drama to fall for such simple tricks?

But I suppose that is the ultimate lesson of this book - not to trick or manipulate, but really to change one's behaviour in order to influence others.

    Definitely an interesting read.

    Empathy

Although many counsels are extremely useful - like smiling before speaking, for instance - the main lesson to learn from this wonderful book is empathy.
