This is a very useful book for learning productive (both quality and quantity) academic writing. The author, Paul Silvia, provided lots of excellent tips, including how to overcome barriers to writing, how to conquer motivational roadblocks and become more prolific, how to craft, submit and resubmit journal/book articles, etc. My favorite technique in this book is the conception of "contingency management" on writing (not a novice strategy but is definetely hard to execute!). The fact is that people in the contingency management condition could write 3.5 times as many pages as people on binge or spontaneous writing!
Although Paul Silvia drew examples from his own field of psychology, I found most of his strategies are applicable to my area of research, i.e. strategic management. I believe that researchers and professors from other disciplines are likely to find this book beneficial as well.
