  • A couple of years ago I saw the movie, and I liked it. But the book is better... it's more fascinating and the main characters are more outlined. I liked a lot how the author developed the relationship between Howl and Sophie, but above all the plot is really charming.

How could you possibly resist thinking of Howl as a romance novel after the Ghibli version...? Hard for me. But after all, a fairy tale in it's core yet referring to the common knowledge of fantastic novel readers and playing with the rules of the Classics. And how it's warning and pushing us forward as readers just like Sophie! For which I find the most fascinating part of the whole story.
