Two sisters, Louisa and Clem, as similar as "ice cream and seaweed" - so clearly not - but a bond, a strong one that no matter the miles or the years is there. Jealousy, envy even, but love. Two sisters, Louisa and Clem, as similar as "ice cream and seaweed" - so clearly not - but a bond, a strong one that no matter the miles or the years is there. Jealousy, envy even, but love. Each chapter is in the voice of one or the other and it alternates. They are there for each other and Julia Glass, in this partially autobiographical book, makes the relationship come alive even if the main character Louisa is a little whiney at times. And then life's tragedies hit - cancer, lost love, and worst. A good story at times, a little long winded at others, well portrayed characters but in the end something is missing - maybe the fact that neither character really makes you care very much.
