An extremely unique book that taps directly into the raw pain of an abused adolescent - so much so that it is oftentimes actually painful to read. The big plot twist at the end doesn't come as much of a surprise, however that in no way takes away from the power of this book.

I have never cared for novels written in poetry form but read this because it was almost challenged at the high school where I work. The story is about identical twins. One twin is molested by her father and the story centers around her and how she deals with the trauma. I was captivated by the creativity by which Hopkins developed the story. The poems are beautifully and hauntingly written to reflect the despair that envelopes this girl. I was lost in them. Cannot recommend this book enough even thought the content is mature and quite graphic at times.

This story, written out in its entirety with the use of poems, could possibly be rather predictable for those who have had even as little of Psychology education as a one semester class in high-school. However, despite this, I devoured this book in one simple sitting, and found the writer's clever hidden messages in the lines of poetry highly creative. Best of all, however, was its subject matter of "identical twins" from a family with its own hidden shadows, the perfect book to give to a companion who has went through a traumatizing experience or disorder of his or her own, for this is a book that they surely will be able to relate to.
