Irene is a model for all of us. She was caught up in evil herself but didn't let that stop her from helping those caught up worse in it. She was Polish but not Jewish. She was a forced laborer under the Germans, but she used her position to helped Jews and hide Jews. She faced danger, was under the threat of death, had to give up her innocence, but she did not give up her charges or her honor. We should all try to be so bold in the face of our struggles and should we ever witness such evil, I pray that we shall all be strong enough to stand against it.
