I really hated that the author didn't totally resolve the plot. So much was put into the other missing children story and then she just dropped it.
The story is a bit too long, and if you are looking for something with a happy ending, you might need to rethink about starting this one. Rob messed up everything and got himself kicked out from the murder squad team, the bad person got away, Cassie and Sam got engaged. And the old case wasn't solved. A debut for the writer: I found the story of the investigation a bit too long, but wound up well towards the end. Effective characterazation of Maddox and Ryan and other people moving in and around this very sad and true to life story. It contains some very beautiful desciptions of Dublin urban areas and of course of the woods. Poignant love story,too....Continua
In the Woods was billed as a wonderfully told, engaging Irish mystery novel, but I was incredibly disappointed by it. I expected richness, and found some, but not nearly as much a I'd hoped for. The central mystery, which is what attracted me to the book, was never resolved, and the secondary mystery came to what I found an unsatisfying conclusion.
This was the only book I hated so much that I gave it away immediately after finishing it....Continua
