Book Description
Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of INKHEART, the book whose characters became real. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater brought into being from words, the need to return to the tale has become desperate. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the ability to read him back, Dustfinger leaves behind his young apprentice Farid and plunges into the medieval world of his past. Distraught, Farid goes in search of Meggie, and before long, both are caught inside the book, too. But the story is threatening to evolve in ways neither of them could ever have imagined.

An intriguing look at a world where words hold the ultimate power, and players are drawn into a story whether they wish to be or not.
Can't wait for the finale!

The 2nd half of the book was very slow moving. There were too many rambling chapters with uninteresting subject matter. I was tired of reading who loved who and who was sobbing and comforting the other. I read a review on amazon that complained about the weak female characters and I couldn't agree more. All of them were reduced to pathetic, submissive help mates for the men. I am so sick of reading stories with unthinking and lame female leads. Meggie was a complete disappointment in this one.
The ending was ridiculous... the chapter with the battle just came out of nowhere. There was no lead up and that was confusing. Very anticlimactic. Fenoglio was quoted as saying: "When someone is dead here, he stays dead!" No, actually they don't. The villains stay dead, but not the good guys. It's too convenient to be able to resurrect near dead or already dead characters, it makes the story feel completely unrealistic. Yes it's a fantasy, but this is just too much! Sometimes a death is necessary.
The best part of the book was Fenoglio coming to terms with his inability to control his story anymore. Everything he tried to fix went horribly wrong, partly because Meggie kept making mistakes. It was interesting to see his own creation through his eyes and feel the disappointment as the story took on a life of its own. His passages were very insightful and interesting. The rest of the book contained a whole lot of fluff and time wasting.
Very romantic book. I highly suggest it to anyone who likes to read: romance, fiction, and adventure.
