      Perhaps I'm partial, but this probably one of the best Gothic novels ever written. It has mystery, oppression, love, fire, and crazy woman in an large house. What more is needed? How about a leading lady the reader can actually connect with. So many other Gothic novels have heroines that are too perfect, Jane is just like the rest of us, imperfect. That's why this novel has stood the test of time.
