Besides being a great, fun, read, it is truly amazing how much ahead of his time Chricton was! He was discussing the cloning of animals as a possible problem in the late 80s, early 90s, WAY before the Dolly sheep came along.
Read it for the science analisys or just for the fun of it! :-)

  • AhahhahI found out the password

Apart my love for Crichton, apart for a good English exercise, apart for being alwways so curious about "the original story".... the main reason I chose it was to find out the Magic Word...
    Now I'm happier :-)

This is an incredible book, no questions asked. I, like others, watched the movies first before discovering the book. After devouring this wonderful piece of writing, I found that the book is much more detailed and gripping than the movie. Not too surprising, since books are better than their movie counterparts most of the time. Crichton was an incredible author, and this novel is way ahead of it's time.

One of my favorite books, in short.

  • I liked this book. Funny and enthralling way to practice my English
And I also learnt something about clonation issues, about dinosaurs (naturally), about palaeontologists, and about wild animals’ behaviour.

When the cloning sheep first appeared in 1997, everyone make the connection to the Jurassic Park. However, a cloned raptor is totally different than a cloned sheep. The dinosaurs are not like mammals. They need the egg shell to protect their embryo. Unless, we can develope the techniques of producing man-made shell to protect the embryos. Or, it is still pretty hard to archieve.
The raptors or T-rexs would definitely not jump into your life. It is because of the reality. The barrier of cloning brids would not allow us to clone dinosaurs. You may see the beautiful skull and delicated model in the meseum. But you would not see them vividly at your backyard. That is how it is. Although it's pretty sad to heard that we still can not clone the birds or avians, it's interested to read the novel.
For fiction,it's not the debut for the dinosaurs. But it's first time for the idea of building amusement park for tourists to see the dinosaurs. Of course, you can still see them in the amusement park, if you go to the universal studio to take a ride. But we should take serious on what the feature that author want to present and that is the fear of technology.
We don't what would it happen in the reality, so we fear it. Like gene-modified plants and animals, we don't the consequence if we eat them a lot. The unknown fear is the fearful part in his novel. Because his description is so real that make us link to the reality. However, his story type is always can be predicted. A seemily good starting at first, then things got worst. In the end, everyone got safe. That was the poor part of his novel with such thrilling topic.
I recommed this book for its value of entertainment. I hope you can enjoy the book. But don't take them serious!
