I like a whodunnit once in a while, so this 'first Inspector Morse novel' seemed just the ticket. I loved the tv series and had high expectations of the book. However.... I like a whodunnit which has a trail of tiny hints from beginning to end, so you can actually do some detecting along with the protagonist. This book just dumped all relevant info in the last chapter. Yes, the plot was understandable but completely unexpected. All the clues were left to the very very last pages. Disappointing, therefore.
