supposedly this book is for PHP beginners. i'm not a beginner (i'm a PHP 5 ZCE ), but i still think there's always something to learn even from beginner's book.
not in this case.
i think the book is confused and confusing. for example, ajax is introduced before even speaking of arrays (which means you deal with code without using arrays and duplicating code like crazy). some explanation are wrong or crazy (like: why google use get parameters instead of post parameters? because otherwise their server would run out of memory or why you cannot do server side validation only ? because the page would reload without values in case of an error)
subjects seem to be thrown in the book without much logic. the code is formatted in a way that makes your eyes cry, and one of the best suggestion, when the code is long and repetitive is to 'copy and paste it'. how about trying to create a function?
i really don't know how a beginner would react to this flow of information.
to me it is plainly a big waste of time.
on the bright side, there is a frequent emphasis on security, modularity, and good practices. sadly the code examples seem to do the opposite.
zero star should be the rating
