“If your daily life seems a poor inspiration, do not blame it; blame yourself, tell yourself that you are not poet enough to bring out its riches; since for to the creative writer there is no poverty and no poor or indifferent place.”

I was reading this on my trip to Europe in 98, right after the SF quake. In Paris I stumbled in a show of Rilke's paraphernalia and it all seemed so momentous, all his suggestions to the poet just right for me too, for anyone who wants to pause and gather his thoughts and figure out who he is and why he does things. I restarted it last night, and it is still near to the bone writing - essential.
