Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is on a streak of bad luck. First her coworker is murdered and no one seems to care. Then she's face-to-face with a beastly creature that gives her a painful - and poisonous - lashing. Enter the vampires, who graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it).

Even though Sookie has her own vampire to look out for her - her red-hot, cold-blooded boyfriend, Bill - she has to admit that the bloodsuckers did save her life. So when one of the local undead asks for a favor, she feels like she owes him.

Soon Sookie's in Dallas, using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire. She's supposed to interview certain humans involved. There's just one condition: The vampires must promise to behave - and let the humans go unharmed. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for things to turn deadly...

  • had me on the edge of my seat!

This book was awesome. Ever since the HBO series started ive been addicted to the characters. In this one we get to see a lot more of Eric. And I must say I am starting to fall for him, haha. While I was reading this book, I noticed that it was like the polar opposite from the 2nd season of True Blood. There were so many differences that it seemed like it was more like an alternative to the story. Of course, the book came first and the tv show decided to go an alternate route. But since I came to read the book with all the knowledge of what happened in the show, it was just so strange to read all these different things going on.

I hope this makes sense lol.

  • Terrific

Like the first book, this was good as well but fortunately in the TV Show the meanad was much more present (Maryann *__*) than in "Living Dead of Dallas"...it's a little bit different than the television version but enjoyable as well. Just started reading Club Dead!:P

  • If i did not buy the boxed set, i would have stopped reading this series already. Why is Sookie Stackhouse always getting beaten up, and surviving it, and then having sex to get better? Getting quite sick of a very stale plot.

  • I loved this. Again, it was interesting to see how the novel had been turned into the second series of True Blood. But the differences between the two makes both the novel and the series enjoyable.
