Edmund Husserl is the founder of phenomenology. The Logical Investigations is his most famous work and has had a decisive impact n the direction of twentieth century philosophy. This is the first time both volumes of this classic work, translated by J.N. Findlay, have been available in paperback. They include a new introduction by Dermot Moran, placing the Logical Investigations in historical context and bringing out its importance for contemporary philosophy.

reading the original with the English translation as reference. It's difficult to render Husserl's tangled syntax into proper English, and overall I think the translators did a fine job. I haven't noticed any fatal blunders up to now, but a minor issue is worth mentioning:

Husserl seems to distinguish the substantive form of a conscious act and the result or object of that act. So for example, Meinen and Meinung would mean "acts of meaning" and "meaning" or the "mean-ing" and "meaning" following or resulting from the mean-ing. They may roughly correspond to the intending/intended distinction. The problem is that Husserl himself does not really consistently employ these terms, while the translators worsen the issue by sometimes translating Meinen and Meinung both as simply "meaning." This is a sad confusion (since the text in itself is already confusing enough). I'll note for further problems when I spot them.
