  This book is definitely great.<br />Humbert Humbert is a fuckin' pedophile, a maniac, the kind of man that everyone would hang as soon as possible. But! But Nabokov makes you love him, understand him, and follow him during his crazy journey all over the States with his kidnapped, raped, psychologically overwhelmed Lolita...But! But in the end you like him, he is ironic and has culture, and after all you come to think that Lolita wasn't that innocent and that Humbert is a fuckin' pedophile as said before but you deeply undestand him. And that is a crazy and great effect, that just a great novelist can achieve.<br />(Last but not least: Nabokov uses a better english than 99% of english-speaking writers, but his mothertongue is russian)(and we shan't forget that american people are always shown as stupid and empty folk. Yeah)</p><p>(I ask your pardon for the innumerable grammatical mistakes and mispellings I must have made in this short writing)

  There is a reason why Vladmir Nabokov is considered one of the greatest writers of this past century - and this novel is the best-known example of his deceptively simple style. Nabokov is a master storyteller, he gives great characterizations and has amazing attention to detail. (some may contend too much of the latter, especially in the various hotel entries.)

  It is often maligned by people who only have heard the concept of this work, and never actually read the book. It's a beautiful, finely wrought jewel of a book, deservedly acclaimed as one of the best of the 20th century.

  Read it and judge for yourself.

  Independientemente de que sea considerada una de las grandes novelas de la literatura, fue una sensación extremadamente desagradable tener presente al personaje de Mr Humbert. Me impidió disfrutar de otros aspectos de la novela y me ha hecho sentir la necesidad de leer sobre cualquier otro tema. La pedofilia y el incesto sigue siendo una realidad. Cuántos Mr. Humbert abusan de traviesas, inocentes e indefensas Lolitas. Qué tristeza de novela. Qué triste que un hombre de más de cuarenta años tenga pensamientos como:"Lolita, fuego de mis entrañas", hacia una niña de doce.
  Pero como "para cada mal hay uno peor" (Thomas Hardy), aparece un Clare Quilty, para que intentemos atenuar los sentimientos y el proceder de Mr Humbert.

  Inizio a scrivere questa recensione mentre sono ancora immerso nella lettura di questo capolavoro.Pensavo di trovarlo noioso, pesante ma non è niente di tutto ciò.Certo, lo stile di Nabokov non è quello che si suol dire "molto scorrevole" ma, parafrasando il compianto Maurizio Mosca devo dire..."Ah. ...   Inizio a scrivere questa recensione mentre sono ancora immerso nella lettura di questo capolavoro.Pensavo di trovarlo noioso, pesante ma non è niente di tutto ciò.Certo, lo stile di Nabokov non è quello che si suol dire "molto scorrevole" ma, parafrasando il compianto Maurizio Mosca devo dire..."Ah....come scrive Nabokov!!!!"
  Le descrizioni delle situazioni vissute dal protagonista vanno dal registro ironico (quando parla della madre di Lolita) a quello epico estatico (quando parla di Lolita stessa);ma che prosa, che padronanza delle frasi!!!Semnra quasi di vivere i tormenti erotici del protagonista, di esserci noi al suo posto.Una cosa che mi ha colpito moltissimo e che non mi aspettavo, è la grande ironia con la quale viene narrato il viaggio dei due attraverso l'America:più volte mi sono trovato a sorridere della maniera in cui queste avventure sono state raccontate.Davvero un grandissimo romanzo, che fonde in maniera mirabile Ironia, psicologia e dramma.Una pietra miliare
