Black Dagger Brotherhood 5

Ruthless and brilliant, Vishous, son of the Bloodletter, possesses a destructive curse and a frighting ability to see the future. As a pretrans growing up in his father's war camp, he was tormented and abused. As a member of the Brotherhood, he has no interest in love or emotion, only the battle with the Lessening Society. But when mortal injury puts him in the care a human surgeon, Dr. Jane Whitcomb compels him to reveal his inner pain and taste pleasure for the first time--until a destiny he didn't choose takes him into a future that cannot include her...

Lover Unbound Still here? Let’s get to the big question: Does J.R. Ward deliver on the Vishous book? From my perspective, she sort of does. Pretty much. I wasn’t, however, as blown away as I really, really wanted to be. And, taking into consideration ... (read full critics)

While this one was not the same intensity of the others I like the deminsion the characters took.

Jeez, will she loose the pathetic happy ending already?? It's unbearable to read an otherwise fairly good story and then have it take some completely worthless turn so that the vampire in charge (of the storyline) will stay sweet and happy. Can't they deal with loss and pain like everyone else?! Ok, ... (continue)

Jeez, will she loose the pathetic happy ending already?? It's unbearable to read an otherwise fairly good story and then have it take some completely worthless turn so that the vampire in charge (of the storyline) will stay sweet and happy. Can't they deal with loss and pain like everyone else?! Ok, they've all had a centuries-long tough life and now they get a chance to be happy (while for ex. Tohr always had it good with Wellsie so he loses everything , including himself) but there are limits!! So yay, V. gets his girl, through pain and sacrifices and they live happily ever after. Amen to that.

PS If Doc Manny becomes a Brother I'm gonna burn the whole series!

I loved this book even if I did not like the end...but maybe it has a sense for the story on the next books (hope so!)
I love Vishous, his character is complex: ruthless, brilliant, he has a destructive curse and a frightening ability to see the future, sexually extreme, devieted, he seems to not feel emotions or love.
His life is at a crossroad: the love for Jane, a human doctor, will change his life and a destiny he didn't choose will take him in a future that doesn't include her. For Jane's love V will fight his past and his destiny.
This is also the book of John and his transition (I loves Zsadist and the way he took care of him!!!), and Phury and his new revealing dark side.
    Stay Tuned.....

Although V. is one of the strongest and most intriguing characters of the saga, I actually found this book less enticing than those I read before. Too predictable the first part. The plot starts getting interesting towards the end and only the very last pages are really moving, as if Ward got the brilliant idea when she thought it would not come to her anymore.
I dare say Phury's parallel drama is more catchy than the main story itself. Let's see now what the next book has in store for the reader...
