  • I laughed until I cried

Very silly, very English and terribly old fashioned - this book is full of observational humour than made me laugh until I cried. Similar to books by David Lodge (Changing Places, London Bridge is Falling down).

    I loved it.

  • It's really funny to see how a man totally ignorant and lazy has to cope with the university system...

  • I really didn't like this book when I read a couple of years ago. It's supposedly funny but I just didn't get it, I just of found it annoyingly sexist. I've since read two other novels by Kingsley Amis which I enjoyed, though I'm still a bit iffy about his attitude towards women.
