The Masters of the Dead, necromancers who can control vampires, and the Pack, a paramilitary clan of shape changers, blame each other for a series of bizarre killings, and the death of Kate's guardian may be part of the same mystery.

    This was a really good book! I love books about magic and this one was very detailed and had a quick, interesting plot line.

    This was a very good paranormal fantasy featuring mercenary Kate Daniels who is not intimidated by anyone - not even the leader of the Shapeshifters. While trying to solve the murder of her friend and guardian, Kate manages to earn the trust and respect of various factions. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Magic Burns.
