  • Making History By Stephen Fry

Michael Young petulant, vindictive, petty, and absolutely charming should be thrilled. His epic dissertation, 200,000 words on Hitler's early childhood, is finally done, printed out and ready to deliver. Then Michael learns his geneticist girlfriend ... (read full critics)

  • An interesting and stimulating plot that will answer one of the most interesting questions we could ask ourselves: "what would have happened if..?"
But in a very unorthodox way.

All this crowned by Fry's supreme writing skills.

What they didn't foresee is that...

Alternate history stories are among my favorites, providing there's no Gwyneth Paltrow in them. I am fascinated by the possibilities of a single action becoming uncontrollably magnified by the context, much as the protagonist of this book is shocked by them. How often we thought "if I did that way, things would have gone that other way!". This book shows that things aren't always that easy.

I advise this book to everyone, as other than Fry being a joy to read, it offers a fresh view on a dark period of human history.
