An interesting and stimulating plot that will answer one of the most interesting questions we could ask ourselves: "what would have happened if..?"
But in a very unorthodox way.

All this crowned by Fry's supreme writing skills.

A tratti è commedia pura e in altri persino filosofico.

A young history student meets an old physicist, whose father spent time in Auschwitz. Together, and thanks to a miraculous device built by the scientist, they devise a way to modify the past and get rid of one of the most dark chapters in history: Adolf Hitler and the rise of National Socialism.
What they didn't foresee is that...

Alternate history stories are among my favorites, providing there's no Gwyneth Paltrow in them. I am fascinated by the possibilities of a single action becoming uncontrollably magnified by the context, much as the protagonist of this book is shocked by them. How often we thought "if I did that way, things would have gone that other way!". This book shows that things aren't always that easy.

I advise this book to everyone, as other than Fry being a joy to read, it offers a fresh view on a dark period of human history.
