[...] Were it a decided thing, an actual refusal, I hope I should know how to bear it, and how to endeavour to weaken her hold on my heart, and in the course of a few years - but I'm writing nonsense.
Were I refused, I must bear it; and till I am, I can never cease to try for her.

Reading this novel was like daydreaming. I could feel Fanny's fear, I could hear Aunt Norris's malignancy, and be touched by Edmund's kindness.

I loved the delicacy of the romance. I loved the dialogues and the settings, but mostly I loved the values, the courage, the honesty of Edmund and Fanny.

I started reading it to learn some vocabulary and I ended up learning about life. A bit heavy to read in the first chapters, definitely well worth the effort by the end of the story. I was sad to leave this family lately, I ended up in a sort of attachment for every character.

  • I can't get enough of a good love story... especially when it's got a twist or two!

  • The hero and heroine may be dull in comparison with Pride and Prejudice, but with characters like the vicious Mrs Norris, languid Lady Bertram and the dashing but dangerous Crawfords, along with scenes like the pivotal home theatricals, this is still an Austen classic.
