A delightful book to teach. We use this in F. 1 for students who are making the transition from reading adaptations to reading original works. It has a wonderfully positive message about the importance of believing in yourself and standing up to those who abuse their authority.

A very imaginative tale with wonderfully rich language. Expressly British, but that makes it fun.

My students loved this Dahl book.

The movie and Book were pretty bang on and I remember just loving the portrayal of evil of Ms. Trunchbowl and Matilda's spunky character. She took everything by the horns and made a stand for herself and friends. Ms. Honey fills out her name and even though it is really Jenny, it makes her seem like the dearest teacher any child would want to have.
It was sweet and lovely, I would be happy to read this book again. It's truly inspirational and makes you smile once you reach the end.

The movie version is fantastic also and they brought the story across from book to film really well making it even better if anything. A great Roald Dahl book!

This book is about a girl called Matilda, she studied at a school but the principal of this school was a very terrible person and she always punlished the students with some very terrible punlishment. The family of Matilda was so special. His fater and mother loved watching TV so much and they always told Matilda not to read so many books but watch more TV, although they always said this to Matilda, Matilda still love reading so much. She was a genius, she always learnt a lot of things herself by reading different books. She had a very great and nice teacher called Miss Honey and this teacher treated Matilda so nice. One day, Matilda found herself having great superpower that her eyes can control things and she told Miss Honey, although at first Miss Honey was not quiet sure if it was true because she knew that Matilda would not lie to others especially Miss Honey, she thought that having superpower was not imaginable. At last, Miss Honey totally believed in Matilda after Matilda showed her the superpower. Matilda used her superpower to help Miss Honey and played tricks on the principal because she knew that the principal had done something bad to Miss Honey.

I think this book is a very interesting book because the story is really so new to me and very creative, also Matilda was a charcter which was very cute and lovely, and her parents were so disagreeable and Miss Honey was really so nice and very suitable to be a teacher. I love this book so much.
