Book Description
Jacque Le Favre is a tamer, a member of one of the exploration teams that humankind has been able to send to the stars. His first world is the second planet out from Groombridge 1618, a rather unpromising place until they encounter the alien L'vrai, with its awesome and appalling gift of telepathy.

haldeman knows how to write, and what to write. i was also misled by the cover (and other review i read) in thinking that the mindbridge and the threat for humankind was one thing (it's not, but i'm not saying more than this).
i enjoyed the book up to the last 20 pages or so, when it becomes too rushed and you finally discover that the characters are not that good.
