An excellent book. The reader of the audiobook was very good and engaged me more quickly than when I had started reading the book. At the start it seemed a bit stilted and without a lot of promise, but soon picked up. It is the story a female English poetry editor, Sarah, on holiday in Malaysia who encounters a 2nd rate poet, Chubb, who, many years back, created a poet as a hoax against the editor of another literary magazine. The poet who is the hoax somehow becomes real and torments his "creator." It is the story Chubb tells of their intertwined lives within the story of Sarah tolerating Chubb's telling of the story, in hopes of obtaining the elusive masterful poetry of the hoaxed poet. Very well done.
