My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories

    Midnights, by Rainbow Rowell.
I think fans of Stephanie Perkins would love Rainbow Rowell's stories. But I'm not the fan number one of Ms. Perkins, and maybe this kind of tale is not exactly for me. It is not boring or skippable, but I know with certainty it's not my favourite of them all in this book.

The Lady and the Fox, by Kelly Link.
I really like the concept, but it is such a confuse story, and sometimes boring, and people in there smoke weeds (I find it disgusting, eh oh).

Angels in the Snow, by Matt de la Peña.
That was a just nice story, but there was little Christmas cheer and it was sad the characters were not with their families in that special day.

Polaris is Where You'll Find Me, by Jenny Han.
THAT was MY kind of story! I saw flaws in there (Too sad only one human girl can see the Santa Village!), yet I really liked this story! Soon I'll read Burn for Burn, by this author... I think I'll like it, too.
If you want to read a full novel which tells the story of Santa's daughter, I recommend you to read North Pole High: A Rebel Without a Claus, I quite loved it!

Since I'm not a Stephanie Perkins' fan, I can say that story is the written piece of her I prefer. It is not bad, but quite good. Being myself a Christmas lover, I don't get along with anytingh is not Christmassy in that time of the year (for example, I put Santas and Angels on my fir tree, indeed, if you get what I mean), but I quite enjoyed the tale nonetheless.

Your temporary Santa, by David Levithan.
I really liked this story! Maybe I'd like to know more of these characters after Christmas day, but it was not a bad reading.

    Krampuslauf, by Holly Black.
I did not like this one; quite at all. Anyway I'm interested toward The Darkest Part of the Forest, hoping it can catch me.

What the Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth, by Gayle Forman.
This story was pure ordinary romance and it did not excited me.

Beer buckets and Baby Jesus, by Myra McEntire.
The concept of this story is very nice, but it is a bit boring and not developed like I would have fancied it to be.

Welcome to Christmas, CA, by Kiersten White.
No! Don't touch my Santa Claus/Father Christmas/Babbo Natale. I can't stand when characters (or real people) speak badly about Christmas. And Maria's restlessness is exaggerated, maybe. Plus, we don't know the reason why E-Ben-ezer was at juvie, so the tale is incomplete. Overall, this story is faintly nice, but not my kind.

Star of Bethlehem, by Ally Carter.
Even if kind of rushed, this story is better than the most of the others, in my opinion. Nice concept.

The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer, by Laini Taylor.
What does this have to do with Christmas?
And in the fairy-tale Cinderella the helper role is fullfilled by a tree, not by a fairy godmother, like in the Disney version...

    Mini recensione qui: http://sparklefrombooks.blogspot.it/2015/01/weekly-advice-7-narrativa-contemporanea.html
“My True Love Gave to Me” è una raccolta di dodici novelle, purtroppo ancora inedita in Italia, uscite dalla penna di altrettanti autori e autrici molto famosi che scrivono libri dai generi più disparati: Rainbow Rowell (Fangirl ed Elinor & Park), Jenny Han (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before; The Summer Trilogy), Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss), David Levithan (Un giorno), Holly Black (Doll Bones; Le cronache di Spiderwick), Laini Taylor (La chimera di Praga) e molti altri.

My True Love Gave to Me.
