Nutmeg is one of very few spices we use in our traditional cuisine here in Bologna, yet I didn't know it had such a long history of bloodshed and war on its background, and even played a part in the foundation of what many consider the capital of the globe. Grating nutmeg for tortellini and lasagne will never be the same, I guess!

I bought this while I was travelling in Indonesia. It's a good narrative about the ancient history of the archipalago. So much politics is involved in search of spice. You'll learn much about history, geography and politics with this book, without feeling it very heavy....Continua
