Not because I am lazy and I couldn't manage to say sorry to more than three people, but because since they are three, I can share with them more than a pint every now and often, and also because it means I don't have to hear too much speaking, which is always a relief. Sorry about what? asked one of them today. I was taking everything seriously, I said. Right, said this friend of mine, better now? he asked. Yeah, I said, and you, how are you feeling? Not bad, he said, but today while I was waiting for my bus to come, another bus came, and it stopped where I was, so I couldn't help looking at the advertisement it had on the side. It was an advertisement for a movie, and the movie would be in the cinemas the 8 of January, said the ad, more than two months ago, can you believe it? this fucked me up, he said. Yeah, that is fucked up, I said. How can they leave an advertisement that old going around across the city? It is an unforgivable error, he said, and I agreed. Beyond this, today I met a girl who works in an estate agency, he said. How come? I said. She was crossing the road and I noticed her, he said, she went in a bakery and when she came out and crossed back the street she had her jacket open and the shirt loose, so that I could see her breast quite well. When she walked close enough to where I was, she fixed everything, tightened up the shirt, and closed the jacket, everything while looking at me, the bitch, and then she disappeared in her agency. Did you go in? I asked. Of course, he said. And did you ask her out? I said. Much better, he said, we fucked in the staff toilette. Groovy, I said, and only because I heard this word recently and made me laugh the shit out of me for at least five minutes, which is a lot of time laughing and it makes new words pop up very easily.

    Una obra maestra. Lo mejor que he leido en años sobre el capitalismo, las multinacionales y la lucha anti-corporativa. Considero que el anticonsumismo total, la organización y la militancia son las únicas maneras (de manera conjunta) de revertir la situación y recuperar el poder de manos de las multinacionales.

    rispetto ad allora il mondo è cambiato parecchio, sia sul fronte delle multinazionali che su quello della lotta al consumismo e alle sue logiche: eppure il libro non risulta affatto invecchiato, c'è dell'ottimo lavoro di giornalismo dietro, affiancato ad analisi socio-politiche decisamente efficaci.
    resto in parte perplesso rispetto alle conclusioni, ma in generale va bene così.

    Un libro lungo, a tratti difficile, sicuramente non un libro-passatempo. Un'inchiesta di 15 anni fa e che è tuttora attualissima, a dimostrazione di come tutto cambi e nulla cambi.
    Da leggere se si vogliono togliere un po' di fette di salame dagli occhi.

    I had almost finished that before my business trip to China. I managed to read the last 50 pages only today.<br />The books is good but it's a kind of report. It is so full of data - almost 90% - that it's tiring to read.<br />So if you're not a "strong reader" give it up the idea of starting to read it. That's why I think it's not so good. <br />The writer should have used the data to take a stronger position. The average reader won't go on reading all those figures. </p><p>In my opinion there isn't enough developing of concepts like branding and the social issues connected with it. For instance that the public opinion doesn't care about children labour unless it is connected with a famous brand it's true.<br />As long as the consumer feels his conscience clean he doesn't really care.<br />As a matter of fact even being No Log is a marketing matter.</p><p>I think the book is a bit out of date right now. Multinationals can even help democratic processes as I've seen in China. Point is we always think as Westerns who know the only "truth".
