I thoroughly enjoyed House of Leaves, and while I knew this book was going to be very different, I was still looking forward to the same enjoyment I received from Danielewski's avant-garde style and non-linear structure.

I read the book in the recommended "read 8 pages one direction, and then flip around and read 8 in the other" style, but I just couldn't find anything interesting in either character and their respective stories and perspective. I was sadly disappointed and can't really bring myself to finish this novel.
