  I read this in Italian more than 20 years ago and found several stories quite memorable. I now got the original versions for Kindle and re-read 6-7 of the stories I remembered. The great ideas are still there, but now I feel I haven't got enough life left to put up with such crap writing. Every ground-breaking vision is buried under tons of adjectives, every twist and surprise spoiled by pages of painful buildup. The narration is so clunky you just want every page to be the last. Thank God for Stephen King, who took a handful of Lovecraft's ideas and turned into highly readable books. Still, 4 stars for inventiveness..
