In typical Malcolm Galdwell style, this is a book that is stuffed full withh interesting anecdotes. The book explores the question "What drives success?" and argues that romanticized stories of grit and determination of 'self made men' are often over-simplifications. It argues that successful people have had opportunities that some others have not, and that they usually come from family / ethnic backgrounds that happen to support their field of endeavor. The book is not a rigorous scientific study of factors behind success. It is more like an anecdotal case for why success can often be about more than the person themselves. For some of those shortcomings, the anecdotes in the book are interesting enough that I had a great time reading it.
