  • Not as difficult as I thought

I read the prologue of this book back in December 2006 and thought it was very difficult but bought it anyway when I got home from Texas in January 2007. I tried reading it again and got as far as the end of Chapter 1 but was still finding it very difficult to read. I've read many books since then and thought I'd finally give it yet another shot.

After reading the prologue and chapter 1 AGAIN and using a audiobook to get me through Chapter 2 I found that I could read the rest on my own. It was not as difficult as I thought it would be and after a few days I finally finished the entire book.

The difficult part of this book was all the names of people and places. I just couldn't get it all straight, it was very confusing which is why it was so difficult but once you get past all the names you start to understand it a lot more. That's been my experience that is.

I loved it and can't wait to read the 2nd Belgariad novel.

One of the first fantasy series I read as a child, I have an enormous soft spot for both the 'Belgariad' series and its sequel the 'Malloreon'.

An epic tale with deeper motivation than many fantasy books suitable for a young audience, the Belgariad series blends elements of the best in epic fantasy with an uncountable number of archetypal myths.

A wonderful read and a brilliant entry into the world of high fantasy.
