This is one powerful book. Although the artwork is simple, it tells a very dramatic story. From the beginning I couldn't believe all of the horrific things that Satrapi had to witness in her small years. I honestly did not know all of that about Iranian history and found it enlightening. Another captivating book by Satrapi. I could not stop reading, I just kept turning page after page. This book reminds me of Maus. Satrapi uses the graphic novel format to tell a serious story. Satrapi shares her memoris ina unique way. I probably would not have picked up this book had it not been a graphic novel. I look forward to reading Persepolis 2.
