Non so perché mi trovo così spesso d'accordo con Richard Hell. [Forse perché siamo genii tutti e due?] Fatto sta che su Houellebecq posso sottoscrivere queste sue parole:
"[...] I didn't really know anything about him, except that he had been making waves as a "maverick." I have to admit that just because he was controversial and much-discussed, my reverse snobbery made me suspicious of him. I thought he must just be a standard egotistic provocateur. My mistake.

I love his research too (presumably it's research--or maybe he knows about the workings of international corporations from other experience...)--the way he describes a wide range of types of people and situations in detail and convincingly. But of course most of all it's the values and personality of the view of things in the book--it might be called bleak and crude but it reads as mostly true-to-life to me."

I read this because I'd read Atomised, and I think I liked it better. He's a good imaginative Writer and hard-edged, what else has he done? Ah, I remember now, and I tried it and I didn't like it, sci-fi stuff or something... nah! With this, he is quite clever, and the business ventures that are evolved in the story are quite believable....Continua
