What I loved about this book, is I was challenged by a friend before I started to see if I could identify the killer.

I carefully studied every page, and then, right at the end, I read a passage that completely twisted on itself. It stunned me, in into believing that the world was upside down – that everything I believed about the book was the reverse, and while I was still reeling from the knowledge – it turned the entire thing on its head by telling me the truth.

    Very clever, very scary.

I don’t normally like whodunit books – but this is intelligently written and thoroughly entertaining.

A very good law thriller, with quite a few interesting elements, like the first-person narration of the main suspect, the contradiction between two different types of lawyers, the different layers of the investigation. Apart from the many law details I wasn't accustomed with, my personal reading experience was spoiled when I realized that the book was reminding me a film I had watched a decade ago and, in the end, I found out that this was the case. For the record, the nice film is a 1990 Alan Pacula movie with Harrison Ford and Raul Julia.

  • My friend Steve recommended this book to me. I was never much of a bestseller reader, but I picked it up . . . and I could not put it down. I recall I stretched my time as much as I could before going to work that day and rushed home at night to complete it.

My friend Steve recommended this book to me. I was never much of a bestseller reader, but I picked it up . . . and I could not put it down. I recall I stretched my time as much as I could before going to work that day and rushed home at night to complete it.

I had the correct person, but did not have all the hooks. The movie paled in comparison to the book.
