bello seppur, nel mio caso, penalizzato dall'aver visto il film ("the millionaire") tratto con diverse licenze.
Una storia bellissima, un India descritta meravigliosamente tra le righe fanno scorrere il romanzo come scorre un torrente verso il mare: si legge d'un fiato.
Once again the rule "the novel is better than the movie" is confirmed. And we are talking about an absolutely breathtaking, nice and successful movie.
I think anyway that the novel is more realistic, more compassionate, written by someone who knows the society he describes. The gentle and ironic descriptions of bitter events really talks of the way life can adapt and successfully survive to challenging environments and social injustices.
It is rare that I watch a movie before reading the book, however in the case of Slumdog Millionaire, I was not even aware a book existed before the movie. However I should have known; great movies are rarely made without a book behind them! The book is quite different from the movie, and I found it to be a quite enjoyable read.
