Recuperating in Switzerland after a job that cost the life of one of his closest friends, ex-special forces soldier and deniable operator Nick Stone has only one thing on his mind: the girl who left his bed this morning without saying goodbye. And when she fails to reappear, Nick knows the honeymoon is over before it has even begun.

Andy McNab has lived his books, if not in exact locations or time then in his past through similar actions, training and locales. His detailed description of weaponry, techniques and actions is unparalleled in modern writing. His depiction of man’s continued violence against man is both graphic and realistic in this book’s current African setting. He is not all doom and gloom as there is plenty of humour in McNab’s writing, as always, along with a spattering of love, understanding and an underlying moral code. McNab is not Hollywood action but real action. He may not be everyone’s cup of tea but he is definitely mine.
