This is a "quiet" book. There are no earth shattering events, teeth clenching dramas or heart rending romances. It is a tale of friendship between two disparate females with one commom interest, hunting nature's "treasures" along beaches in England in the early 19th century. This seems simple enough ... I LOVE Tracy Chevalier's novels, and while I wouldn't rate this one as highly as The Lady and the Unicorn or The Virgin Blue, it's certainly a very enjoyable read.
