  An expedition begins on an Island said to hold a treasure worth upwards of $2 billion including a mysterious relic, St Michael's Sword. The problem is that the pit is set with various booby traps and Martin Hatch is stepping back onto the island for the first time in 25 years since his brother and father disappeared on the island. The health issues befalling the people on the island are explained after a grueling search for the treasure finds what they were looking for, and something they weren't.

  My thoughts

  I enjoyed this thriller set off the coast of Maine. It had pirate lore, secret codes, booby traps - and a sense of impending doom as both the weather and the dangers of the pit's contents become more dangerous by the day.
