Stoppard's version of Beckett's Waiting for Godot. What a riot. This book/play is the source that had me come out of my shell as a senior in high school. Hamlet is not portrayed as well here as ol' Billy did. As we discussed Hamlet's role in Rosencrantz, I recall becoming frustrated with my teacher's insistence that Hamlet was a hero. The National Theatre production in April 1967 made Tom Stoppard's reputation virtually overnight. Its wit, stagecraft and verbal verve remain as exhilarating as they were then and the play has become a contemporary classic."
