This book is the fictionalized biography of Emil Zatopek; a chetz runner that didn't like to run at all, but to whom winning became such a passion that he began to explore the limits of human capacity. This is a wonderful novel that makes the reader feel as thought she is inside the runner's skin. The author manages to have the reader always over the edge, suspicious, awaiting for the moment when the catastrophe will show its ugly face. However, the catastrophe never happens: it is just a life. A life with ups and downs as any other extraordinary life. Great book!
